In der aktuellen politischen Lage der Asylrechtsversch\u00e4rfungen und zunehmenden rassistischen Hetze gegen Gefl\u00fcchtete, berichten antirassitische Aktivist_innen aus Kanada von ihren Erfolgen mit dem Konzept der \u201eSanctuary Cities\u201c<\/a>. Das Konzept sieht vor, dass sich Kommunen verpflichten, Gefl\u00fcchtete und MigrantInnen ohne Papiere zu sch\u00fctzen und ihnen gleichberechtigten Zugang zu kommunalen Leistungen wie Bildung oder Gesundheitsversorgung zu gew\u00e4hren. In den USA und Kanada gibt es bereits etliche St\u00e4dte, in denen es umgesetzt wird.<\/p>\n

Nathan Prier<\/strong> und Ayesha Basit<\/strong> sind AktivistInnen bei \u201eNo One Is Illegal Toronto\u201c<\/a> haben das \u201eSolidarity City Movement\u201c in Toronto mit gegr\u00fcndet, das 2013 die erste Richtlinie Kanadas f\u00fcr die Errichtung einer st\u00e4dtischen Schutzzone durchsetzen konnte. Wir wollen gemeinsam mit den beiden diskutieren, ob und inwiefern sich Ankn\u00fcpfungspunkte f\u00fcr die Situation bei uns bieten k\u00f6nnten und wir aus ihren Erfahrungen lernen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n

In the current political situation, with increasingly severe asylum laws and racist hate-speech against refugees, antiracist activists from Canada tell us about their success with the concept of \u201eSanctuary Cities\u201c<\/a>. The concept intends, that municipalities commit themselves to protect migrants and people without papers and to provide them with an equal access to municipal services like education or health care. The concept is already implemented in a lot of cities in the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n

Nathan Prier<\/strong> and Ayesha Basit<\/strong> from \u201eNo One Is Illegal Toronto\u201c<\/a> are co-founders of the \u201eSolidarity City Movement\u201c in Toronto that could push through the demand for the establishment a municipal zone of protection in Toronto. We want to discuss with them, if there are similarities to the situation in Germany and Bremen and if we can learn from their experiences.<\/p>\n
