Februar 2020: Bremens erster Black OurStory Month!

In der Tradition des „Black History Month“ kommen Schwarze Menschen zusammen, um ihre Held*innen zu feiern und sich über Generationen hinweg an ihre Geschichten zu erinnern.
In diesem Monat ehren wir das (Über)Leben Schwarzer Menschen auf der ganzen Welt: Unsere Geschichten sind einzigartig, bemerkenswert und zeugen von Stärke. Wir wollen aufzeigen, was wir erreicht haben, über neue Wege nachdenken Widerstand zu leisten und uns darüber austauschen, wie unser Erbe am Leben erhalten werden kann, um diejenigen zu inspirieren, die nach uns kommen.
Die Black Student Union Bremen hat beschlossen, den ersten „Black History Month“ der Stadt zu initiieren und ihn in „Black OurStory Month“ (BOM) umzubenennen, um uns auf den Gedanken zu konzentrieren, dass wir als Gemeinschaft jenseits des (Hetero- und Cis) Normativen feiern und all unsere Geschichten ehren wollen.
Wir freuen uns, die erste Veranstaltungsreihe dieser Art mit Euch zu teilen, uns Raum zu nehmen und gegenseitig zu feiern!

February 2020: Bremen’s first Black OurStory Month!

In the tradition of “Black History Month” Black people come together to celebrate their s*heroes and remember their stories through time. In this month we honor Black lives and Black survival all over the world: our stories are unique, remarkable and resilient. We want to highlight what we have accomplished, think about new ways to resist and persist and reflect on how our legacy can be kept alive to inspire the ones coming after us.
The Black Student Union Bremen decided to initiate the city’s first “Black History Month” and rename it “Black OurStory Month”, focusing on the thought that we have to go beyond the (hetero- and cis-)normative to honor all of our stories and celebrate in community with one another. We are excited to share the first event series of this kind with you, to take up space and celebrate each other!
